1. What trip is best for me?
If you are looking for adventure and excitement the whitewater trips are for you. The full course for individuals looking to become competent whitewater kayakers is the weekender two day course. If you want a day trip with little to no experience needed the ducky trip is for you.
For those looking for a scenic and relaxing trip we would recommend the flatwater tours. Recreational tours are great for day time paddling, while sunset tours offer a unique experience kayaking in the Columbia River National Scenic Area during the evening hours.
2. How do I register for a trip?
We have multiple options to allow you to register for our trips. Please select the tab Sign Up and follow the instructions from there. Feel free to call 541.806.4190 or email info@gorgekayaker.com with any specific registration questions.
3.What gear should I bring to be prepared for my trip?
For Whitewater trips:
• Long-sleeve water wicking layer (nylon/spandex or fleece) shirt.
• Change of clothes for after river sessions.
• Swimsuit or swim-trunks, towel, sunscreen, and water.
• Strap for eyeglasses or extra contact lenses.
• Optional items - nose plugs, ear plugs, and goggles.
For Flatwater trips:
Water, sunscreen, sunglasses, towel, clothes that may get splashed and wet, a dry change of clothes.
4. Is it appropriate to tip the guide?
Tipping is not mandatory, if you feel like your service was above and beyond feel free to tip your guide.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
We require full payment for all trips. Cancellation 7 or more days before trips will receive 100% refund.
Cancellation 6 days to 24 hours before a trip will receive a 50% refund, rescheduling is allowed.
There is no refund given if cancellation is within 24 hours of the trip.
6. Do you offer group discounts or other discounts?
For groups with 3 or more people signing up together receive 20% off any trip we offer. Military, Police Officers, Firefighters, and Students receive 20% any trip.
7. Can I use my own kayaking gear during the lessons?
We provide our customers with any gear needed. We do recommend that if you have your own gear to bring it along. We would like to teach you in the gear you are going to be using in the future so that you feel comfortable and confident on your own. We can also give you advice on how to make your kayak fit more comfortably and what adjustments will make the kayak work better for.
8. Can I buy Gift Certificates?
We offer gift certificates for any trip on our site. Gift Certificates are also available in dollar amounts.
