We are based out of the Kayak Shed retail store in Hood River, Oregon. Being located in Columbia River Gorge places us in proximity to more than thirty rivers and lakes all within a 30 minute drive. We have selected our favorites to offer tours and classes on for your maximum enjoyment.
Whether you’re interested in recreational flat water kayaking, beginning whitewater kayaking, or you are an intermediate kayaker looking to build confidence on the river and running waterfalls, there is a class for you.

Todd Anderson has been teaching for the Columbia Gorge Kayak School for four years. He began kayaking 12 years ago in Hood River where he grew up. With all of the amazing rivers in the Columbia Gorge it is easy to see how he became hooked on the sport. He has been featured on the Cover of Whitewater Magazine, filmed televisions shows with National Geographic, and been on the top of the podium in many international kayak competitions. Todd's sponsors include Pyranha Kayaks, NRS, AT Paddles, and the Kayak Shed.
Certifications: ACA Instructor, Whitewater Rescue Technician, First Aid, CPR, and a Professional Competitve Kayaker.

Gene Harb is a senior at Brevard College and is majoring in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education. He grew up canoeing on the rivers of western Virginia and started whitewater kayaking four years ago upon moving to the Southeast. He is an ACA instructor and has worked as a safety kayaker and raft guide on the Arkansas River in Colorado. Gene decided to pursue instruction because he enjoys helping other paddlers progress and become interested in the sport.
Certifications: ACA instructor, Wilderness First Responder, Swiftwater Rescue, First Aid and CPR.

Erik Boomer has guided trips on the Payette and Salmon Rivers of Idaho since the age of 14. He has also completed one of the most prestigious kayaking challenges in North America, the Triple Crown. This consists of kayaking three of the hardest multi-day rivers in North America in the same year. He is also a photographer in his spare time, landing shots on the cover of Canoe and Kayak Magazine. Boomer's sponsors include Liquid Logic Kayaks, Kokatat, AT Paddles, and Teva shoes.
Certifications: Wilderness First Responder, Currently in Nursing School, First Aid, CPR, and a Professional Expedition Kayaker.

Christie Glissmeyer has been paddling for 10 years and instructing for three years. While living in Jackson Hole, she helped develop a kayak school for kids. Her sponsors include Dagger Kayaks, AT Paddles, Kokatat, Snap Dragon, and Fortress Watches. Christie has recently moved to Hood River for all the great whitewater it has to offer.
Certifications: Dagger Girls at Play Instructor, CPR, First Aid, and a Professional World Traveling Kayaker.
